Our Housing

Public Housing

The Church Point Housing Authority manages 123 public housing units in six different geographic areas in the Town of Church Point through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Public Housing Program.  This helps to ensure that families have safe, sanitary, and affordable housing in various neighborhoods, and allows the nearly 275 family members residing in public housing to be active participants and contributors throughout the community.

For your convenience, Public Housing Applications may be completed at our Wimberly Court office during normal business hours, or you may click on the Printable Public Housing Application link at the bottom of this page to print out an application.  Please completely fill out your application and mail to:  Church Point Housing Authority, Post Office Drawer 313, Church Point, Louisiana 70525.

If you would prefer to apply for public housing online, please find information below on our online Public Housing Application option in the Public Housing Application section under Online Services.

Section 8 Rental Assistance

The Church Point Housing Authority presently provides 88 housing vouchers to families or individuals for housing rental assistance through HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher Program.  Under the program, a family or individual issued a voucher for housing is responsible for finding suitable housing of their choice.  The owner must agree to rent and meet the Housing Choice Voucher Program requirements, and the unit must be inspected and meet HUD’s Quality Standards prior to lease up.

Families or individuals are responsible for a portion of the rent, and the balance is covered by the housing voucher.  The Church Point Housing Authority pays rent balances directly to the landlords.  Rent prices are paid using a fair market value that is established by HUD.  Approximately 225 family members presently benefit from the Church Point Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher Program.

The Church Point Housing Authority only accepts Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) applications once per year in the month of April.  The exact date in April that we will be accepting applications will be posted sometime in March of that same year at our office, and will be announced on our website and in the Church Point News newspaper.

Please call our office if you would like more information about applying for our Public Housing or Housing Choice Voucher Programs.
